Pashinyan Proposes Changing the Ending of the National Anthem
The Prime Minister of Armenia, Nikol Pashinyan, presented his vision for how the national anthem of the Republic of Armenia should conclude.
Speaking during a discussion on the draft report regarding the execution of the Republic of Armenia's 2022 state budget in the National Assembly, Pashinyan addressed the anthem, stating that he has no issues with the text.
“However, it ends with a line about dying and a scene of death. I have been thinking a lot lately—of course, from an aesthetic, poetic standpoint, it may not be easy to implement, but I believe it would be politically appropriate for the anthem to conclude with the following lines:
‘Look at it with three colors,
A sacred sign;
Let it stand against the enemy;
Let Armenia always be glorious.’
The Prime Minister emphasized that there is no final conclusion on this matter, mentioning that he expresses these thoughts in the genre of 'thinking out loud.'
