For the First Time, Armenia's Leader Recognized Karabakh as Part of Azerbaijan: Borrell
Both sides (Armenia and Azerbaijan) have recognized each other's territorial integrity with specific expressions, and it is significant that, for the first time, Armenia included Karabakh as part of Azerbaijan’s territory.
This was stated today by Josep Borrell, the head of European Union diplomacy, during a discussion in the European Parliament about the situation created due to Azerbaijan's blockade of Nagorno-Karabakh.
“This is the first time that the leader of Armenia, in this case, Prime Minister Pashinyan, has expressed this so explicitly. It was entirely clear,” Borrell emphasized.
In this regard, he expressed hope that Baku will accept the message from Armenia's Prime Minister and will send a “positive narrative to the Armenians of Nagorno-Karabakh with a clear message regarding their rights and safety, which will be fully respected.”
“This is one of the messages of the agreement that should proceed in parallel with other points of the negotiation process,” Borrell noted.
