Ukrainian Armed Forces Attempted to Breach Russian Defense Near Zaporizhzhia: Shoigu

On the night of June 8, the Ukrainian Armed Forces attempted to breach the Russian military's defenses towards Zaporizhzhia with up to 1,500 personnel and 150 armored vehicles. They were detected in time through reconnaissance, stated Russian Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu.

The Russian troops delivered preemptive strikes using artillery, aviation, and anti-tank weapons against the Ukrainian assault units, halting the Ukrainian military's attacks in all four directions.

Shoigu emphasized that the adversary retreated with heavy losses, and the Ukrainian Armed Forces' reserve units failed to fulfill their mission. During the two-hour battle, the Ukrainian forces lost 30 tanks, 11 infantry fighting vehicles, and up to 350 personnel, according to the Minister of Defense.
