Zelensky Threatens That Kyiv Will Not Attend NATO Summit
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has threatened that Kyiv will not participate in the upcoming NATO summit in Vilnius if no promises are made regarding Ukraine's acceptance into the alliance. "Tell me, how many lives is one statement worth at the Vilnius summit? Will Ukraine be in NATO after the conflict? If we are not seen there and no signals are given to us in Vilnius, I believe Ukraine has no place at the summit," Zelensky said in an interview with a WSJ reporter.
It is noteworthy that on February 24, at 03:40, the first Russian tanks appeared in Ukraine's Luhansk region. At 04:35, the first missiles fell in the Sumy region. At 04:50 Moscow time, Vladimir Putin released a video message announcing that Russia had begun a "special military operation" in Ukraine. Western allies had been warning Kyiv for months that Russia was planning a large-scale war. However, Putin's decision shocked many around the world. A large-scale war has been ongoing for more than a year now, resulting in the deaths of tens of thousands of soldiers and civilians, cities being bombarded, and war crimes occurring.
