Video: Water Cannons Used Against Protesters in Turkey

Protests have erupted in Turkey following the recent elections. In the southeastern province of Hakkari, an attempt was made to organize a demonstration, but the police dispersed the unrest using water cannons.

It is noteworthy that Erdoğan received only 28% of the votes in Hakkari, a region populated largely by Kurds and known as one of the most separatist areas of the country.

Yesterday, Turkey held the second round of its presidential elections. The head of Turkey’s Supreme Election Council, Ahmed Yener, announced that after processing 99.75% of the ballots, Erdoğan secured 52.1% of the votes, thus being re-elected for another term. His rival, opposition leader Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, garnered 47.9%.
