Erdogan Issues Statement Ahead of Presidential Election Runoff
The current President of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, has declared his confidence in winning the second round of presidential elections scheduled for May 28. Erdogan made this statement during his speech at the final rally of his election campaign in the Beykoz district of Istanbul, as reported by TASS.
“Tomorrow we will achieve a victory that will not be a defeat for anyone. This will be a victory for 85 million Turks, a victory for democracy,” he said.
Earlier, Nejat Ozkan, Vice President of the International Association of Political Consultants, stated that both candidates, Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Kemal Kilicdaroglu, have equal chances of winning in the second round of the presidential elections on May 28. According to the expert, Kilicdaroglu could potentially win by significantly increasing voter turnout, but this would need to exceed 90%, which Ozkan considers unlikely.
The Turkish news agency Bianet reported that a majority of Turkish citizens plan to support the incumbent President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in the second round of the presidential elections.
