Dollarization in the EAEU Has Already Taken Place: Ovechuk

Dollarization in the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) has already taken place. This statement was made by Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexei Ovechuk during a conversation with journalists, as reported by the state media outlet 'Belarus Today'.

“We have not turned the dollar into a weapon. But if we are cut off from the dollar and the euro, we will naturally not sit idly by and will look for other currencies,” he stated.

Ovechuk noted that in the first quarter of this year, 89% of transactions involving goods within the EAEU were conducted in national currencies. In March, this figure reached 90%.
