Pentagon Denies Reports of Explosion Near Department Building
The Pentagon has denied reports of an explosion at the headquarters of the U.S. Department of Defense, which were circulated on Telegram and Twitter. This was reported byRIA Novosti, citing a representative from the department's press service.
In response to a question about the explosion, the agency's contact stated, "No." Earlier, social media had begun to spread messages about a supposed explosion near the American defense department building. A photograph was also published.
However, later, Washington Post correspondent Yunus Paksoy published a photo in which any possible aftermath of the incident was absent. Social media speculate that the first image was created using a neural network, and the media mistakenly confused it with a real photo.
