Cloud of Smoke Over Yerevan: City Hall Explains the Cause

Auroranews has received reports of a strange odor spreading in Yerevan, accompanied by a cloud of smoke over the city. Assuming that the issue might be related to the fire that broke out yesterday in the Nubarashen landfill area, we contacted employees of the Yerevan City Hall.

"Since yesterday, we have been combating this phenomenon, but we have only managed to contain its further spread. We cannot discuss specific causes at this time, as they are technical, but it is a fact that there is accumulated waste there over the years, and there are internal combustion gases. Our current objective is to localize the fire. In addition to community fire engines, soil is also being transported to the area to combat the fire as much as possible," the city hall officials stated in an interview with us.

They also added that specialized rescue services equipment is operating in the area.
