Azerbaijan's Foreign Ministry Comments on the Tripartite Meeting in Brussels

The Azerbaijani Ministry of Foreign Affairs has addressed the meeting held in Brussels between Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, and European Parliament President Charles Michel, providing commentary on the outcomes:

“The fifth meeting organized by the President of the European Council on May 14 between the President of Azerbaijan and the Prime Minister of Armenia is considered useful and effective in advancing the agenda of normalizing relations between the two countries. During the meeting, a substantial exchange of views took place regarding the coordination of the bilateral peace agreement between Azerbaijan and Armenia, delimitation of borders, and achieving specific results in the restoration of communication.

The Azerbaijani side reiterated its principled position on ensuring peace and stability in the region. Particularly, the respect for the territorial integrity of states holds special significance, as well as Armenia’s acceptance of Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity recognized internationally in this context.

The meeting also provided an opportunity to discuss humanitarian issues, which are important for conflict resolution. In this context, the importance of clarifying the fate of the missing persons and taking steps in the area of demining was emphasized once again.

We declare that the normalization of relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia, based on mutual recognition and respect for each other’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, and international borders, is the only way to ensure stable peace and stability in the region. We welcome efforts in this direction that contribute to achieving progress in the normalization of relations and reaffirm our readiness to continue dialogue and cooperation with international partners pursuing this goal.”

It should be noted that on May 12, Azerbaijan fired toward the village of Kugh, using drones in the Sotk direction. As a result of enemy fire, one soldier was killed and two were injured.
