The Path to Resolution in the South Caucasus is the Implementation of Trilateral Agreements: Peskov

The implementation of the Russia-Armenia-Azerbaijan trilateral agreements will enable resolution in the South Caucasus, as the signed documents have no alternative as a basis for settling the situation. This was stated by Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov during an interview with Pavel Zarubin on the show "Moscow. Kremlin. Putin."

“Russia is fully committed to the trilateral documents signed two years ago. We proceed from the fact that they remain an indisputable basis for resolution. In order to achieve a resolution, it is necessary to follow the path of implementing the agreements reached by the leaders of the three countries,” he said.

Recall that on November 9, Russian President Vladimir Putin, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev issued a joint statement regarding the cessation of military operations.

According to the trilateral statement, the Russian peacekeeping forces, consisting of 1,960 personnel equipped with small arms, 90 armored vehicles, and 380 units of automotive and special equipment, were deployed along the contact line in Nagorno-Karabakh and the Lachin corridor.

The Russian peacekeeping forces are deployed for a period of 5 years, after which this period will be automatically extended for another 5 years unless any of the parties announces their intention to terminate this provision 6 months prior to the expiration of the term.
