Pentagon to Strengthen Military Presence in the Persian Gulf Due to Iranian Actions

The Pentagon will announce a series of steps aimed at bolstering the U.S. military presence in the Gulf region on Friday. This was stated by John Kirby, a representative of the U.S. National Security Council.

“The Pentagon will increase its military presence in the Persian Gulf,” Kirby’s words are quoted by American media.

He noted that this decision was made “due to repeated threats from Iran against commercial vessels.”

At the same time, Kirby emphasized that the United States does not seek conflict or escalation in relations with Tehran.

In early May, Iran seized an oil tanker flying the Panama flag in the Strait of Hormuz and, at the end of April, seized another oil tanker flying the flag of the Marshall Islands in the Gulf of Oman. Both seized tankers are anchored near the shores of Bandar Abbas port city.
