Borrell Declares NATO Ready for Serious Cooperation with China

The head of EU diplomacy, Josep Borrell, has stated that the alliance is ready for serious cooperation with China to seek a resolution regarding Ukraine. This was reported by РИА Новости, citing the Financial Times.

According to the publication, Borrell emphasized the EU's willingness to engage seriously with Beijing on the Ukrainian conflict, despite support for Moscow.

The European foreign policy chief also mentioned that the EU "welcomes all genuinely positive steps by China aimed at finding a solution." At the same time, he highlighted that the union's countries should not seek to "block the growing power of developing countries," indirectly hinting at the reluctance of member states to adopt a tougher stance on China favored by the United States.

Borrell also noted that Brussels must consider China’s influence when dealing with low-income countries, warning against expectations that these nations would "align themselves with one side or another." China proposed its peace plan in February, which includes 12 points, among them calls for ceasefires, respect for the legitimate interests of all countries in the security sector, and resolution of the humanitarian crisis in Ukraine.

According to Russian President Vladimir Putin, many points of the Chinese peace plan could be accepted as a basis for resolution when the West and Kyiv are ready for it.
