French Parliament Recognizes Wagner as Terrorist Organization
The National Assembly of France voted on May 9 to classify the Russian private military company Wagner as a terrorist organization. All 331 members present in parliament voted in favor of the bill. This was reported by Politico.
The resolution also calls on the European Union to list Wagner in its list of terrorist organizations. The EU has already imposed several sanctions against Wagner. In April 2022, the EU included the company's leader, Yevgeny Prigozhin, in its sanctions list related to the war in Ukraine. Furthermore, in April of this year, Wagner was added to the list of sanctioned groups for its "active involvement in Russia's war against Ukraine."
It is worth noting that the government of the United Kingdom is also preparing to recognize Wagner as a terrorist organization in the coming weeks.
