PHOTOS: The Devastating Impact of the Blockade of Artsakh Illustrated by the Example of Sarsang
The first image shows the Sarsang reservoir before the blockade of Artsakh by Azerbaijan, while the second image depicts the current state of the reservoir. This information is reported by the Ministry of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure of the Republic of Artsakh.
For over three months, Azerbaijan has been obstructing the repair of the only high-voltage line from Armenia into Artsakh, affecting the Agavnavo-Berдзor section.
To deepen the energy crisis, Azerbaijan has periodically disrupted the operations of the gas pipeline coming from Armenia to Artsakh; it has been two months since the last shutdown. As a result, the hydroelectric power station built on the Sarsang reservoir was the only option to mitigate the energy crisis, and unprecedented amounts of water were released from the reservoir during winter to generate electricity.
