VIDEO: Protesters March Towards Parliament Building in Chișinău
Protesters have begun a march towards the center of Chișinău, where the presidential administration and parliament are located, chanting anti-government slogans and calling for the resignation of the country's leadership. This information has been reported by various Telegram channels.
Moldova is experiencing an energy crisis due to rising energy resource prices, with gas tariffs increasing nearly sevenfold and electricity prices almost quadrupling since 2022. Amidst the hike in energy resource costs, the population's debts for utility services are growing. According to experts, the gas debt for ordinary consumers in Chișinău has increased sevenfold since last November.
Earlier, Moldovan Prime Minister Dorin Recean announced that the republic could abandon Russian gas and electricity, but this would lead to significant price increases for energy resources, prompting the government to consider mechanisms for compensating consumers.
