Ankara Rejects Washington's Proposal, Says Cavusoglu
Turkey's Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu has spoken about the United States' proposal to send Ukraine S-400 air defense systems. He announced this during an interview with Habertürk.
According to the Turkish diplomat, Ankara has rejected Washington's proposal. “There have been several proposals from the US regarding the S-400. They told us, 'Give us control, this proposal affects our independence; then where is our independence?' ” said Cavusoglu.
He stated that Ankara has received various proposals from the US administration regarding the S-400 and that if it were reconcilable, Turkey would not have current issues with Washington. “They even suggested sending them to Ukraine, and we said that this is impossible; there have been such proposals,” added Cavusoglu.
