Video: Pashinyan Discusses Installation of Statue Honoring Participants of 'Nemesis' Operation

The Prime Minister of Armenia, Nikol Pashinyan, addressed Turkey's dissatisfaction regarding the installation of a statue commemorating the participants of the 'Nemesis' operation in Yerevan.

'It is not the case that statues do not affect our interactions with various countries. For instance, we faced serious problems regarding the placement of Garegin Nzhdeh's statue in the context of these relationships, and we continue to have those problems. It is not just from the Western direction that we receive questions about statues,' he stated.

Pashinyan elaborated on why the monument dedicated to the participants of 'Nemesis' was installed in Yerevan. 'It was installed for a simple reason: when this topic was discussed, initiatives were taken from December 2020 to around April 2021. Everyone thought that if we do not agree on this betrayal, they will say, 'Ah, you are the traitors.' Essentially, we are all being guided by the logic of making sure we are not labeled as traitors, while in reality, we are betraying our country's state and national interests. The important thing is to have an alibi that we did not commit treason. But no one talks about the deep treachery we are engaged in,' he remarked.

The Prime Minister also noted that Armenia has primarily not been guided by economic gain, but rather by emotional motives. 'I believe the time has come for us to transform from an emotional populace into a state-oriented citizenry. It is not an easy path,' he concluded.
