Yegoyan on Ruben Rubinyan's Participation in Negotiations

“Ruben Rubinyan's participation in the negotiations in Washington is a personal decision of the Prime Minister,” stated Arman Yegoyan, a member of the Parliament's Civil Contract faction, commenting on Rubinyan's trip to Washington as part of the delegation led by the Minister of Foreign Affairs.

According to Yegoyan, there is nothing surprising about it. “Rubinyan is the Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly, and there is nothing wrong with the National Assembly being involved in the negotiations as well. After all, this is a parliamentary republic, and in effect, the National Assembly is also participating through the figure of Ruben Rubinyan.”

When asked whether this means that Armenian-Turkish and Armenian-Azerbaijani relations are being interconnected, Yegoyan responded, “Mr. Rubinyan’s presence does not imply that. No, it does not.”
