Historic Results for Armenian Boxing Federation
The Armenian Boxing Federation reports: 'The youth national team of Armenia has reached the semifinals of the European Championship with a historic result. Out of our 13 athletes, 12 have reached the semifinals, securing as many medals. Such a result has never been seen in the history of Armenian boxing. On the 6th day of competition, we achieved 3 more victories.'
First, in the 51 kg weight category, David Safaryan decisively defeated the Israeli fighter Luri Lapchevski. Following this, Artsakh athlete Erik Arstamyan continued the success, utilizing a highly strategic approach to defeat Slovakia's Lukas Vimilisk. Throughout all rounds, our boxer maintained a significant advantage, leading the judges to award a unanimous 5-0 victory.
The 12th medal for the boys' team was secured by Gor Azizyan in the 57 kg weight category, who triumphed over Israeli fighter Ali Shahavi. At the start of the first round, our athlete quickly identified his opponent's weaknesses and took control of the fight, resulting in a confident 5-0 victory.
The semifinals will take place on May 1st.
