Blinken and Aliyev Hold Phone Conversation: Discussion on Checkpoint Placement in Lachin Corridor

The U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev held a phone conversation during which Blinken emphasized the importance of peaceful negotiations between Azerbaijan and Armenia and promised continued U.S. support. This was stated by Matthew Miller, the official spokesperson of the U.S. State Department.

"He also voiced the deep concern of the United States regarding the establishment of a checkpoint by Azerbaijan in the Lachin Corridor," the statement noted.

The Secretary of State pointed out that this undermines efforts to build trust in the peace process and stressed the importance of reopening the Lachin Corridor as soon as possible.
