The interview of Turkey's President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan with local television channels was abruptly interrupted as the Turkish leader felt unwell on air due to stomach flu (gastroenteritis, sometimes referred to as 'stomach flu'). This information was reported by Ria.ru.

The interview began late Tuesday evening, amid the presidential candidate's busy campaign schedule. The live broadcast was cut off sharply at the moment when the journalist started to ask questions about future cabinet reshuffles. The long pause generated considerable noise on social media.

“First of all, I wish health. The campaign was very intense yesterday and today, and as a result, I got stomach flu. I even considered canceling the broadcast. But we promised and came, I apologize to you and our viewers,” Erdoğan said upon returning to live air after the break.

After two brief questions, the host stated that the interview was ending so that “the president can rest.”

It should be noted that the presidential and parliamentary elections in Turkey are scheduled for May 14. The incumbent president, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, is the joint candidate of the “Republican Alliance,” with his main competitor being the joint candidate of the opposition “People's Alliance,” Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu. Other candidates include the leader of the “Memleket” party, Muharrem İnce, and the candidate from the “Ata” alliance, Sinan Oğan.
