Women to Receive 1 Million Drams Honorarium Upon Discharge After 6 Months
Women will be able to serve in the mandatory military service on a voluntary basis. The Ministry of Defense has proposed amendments and additions to the laws on "Defense" and "Military Service and the Status of Military Personnel." Suren Papikyan stated during a cabinet meeting that a mandatory military service period of 6 months will be established for women.
Women will serve exclusively in training units, without a lottery system. Upon discharge after 6 months, women will receive an honorarium of 1 million drams.
Those women who wish to continue their service in the Armed Forces after 6 months can apply through the "Defender of the Homeland" program and serve for a term of 5 years.
