Danish Ambassador Summoned by Turkey's Foreign Ministry
Turkey's Foreign Ministry summoned the Danish ambassador in Ankara on Friday in connection with the "attack" on the Quran and the Turkish flag in the Scandinavian country, reports TASS.
“We condemn today’s (April 14) disgusting attack on the Holy Quran and our glorious flag in Denmark. It is unacceptable that such vile attacks are allowed under the guise of freedom of expression. Our position on this matter has been conveyed to the Danish ambassador in Ankara, who was summoned to the ministry,” read the statement from Turkey's Foreign Ministry.
On January 21, right-wing extremist party leader Rasmus Paludan also held a public burning of the Quran in front of the Turkish embassy in Stockholm. In his speech, he criticized NATO, Turkey, and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, and also displayed a caricature of the Prophet Muhammad.
