Video: Traffic Jam at Lars as Transit Plate Drivers Struggle to Enter Russia
Drivers with transit plates are unable to enter Russia through the Upper Lars checkpoint. This has been reported by Readovka, noting that hundreds of such vehicles are backed up on the Georgian side.
Georgia claims that the closure of the Russian-Georgian border for transit workers is due to failures in the Federal Customs Service's resources. However, the Russian customs authorities state that they are operating normally and have no issues.
Affected drivers have mentioned that they have been at the border for four days, stuck in the traffic jam. Additionally, there are no restrooms, shops, or even gas stations on the Georgian side, and reports indicate that fuel has run out.
It is noted that ordinary vehicles, including Ukrainian ones, are currently entering Russia calmly from Georgian territory. The problem specifically pertains to transit plates, which are typically issued for vehicles purchased abroad for export to the Russian Federation.
