The Black Sea Will Never Be a 'NATO Sea', Says Peskov

The Black Sea will never become a 'NATO Sea,' stated Dmitry Peskov, press secretary of the Russian president, while commenting on Kyiv's idea of demilitarizing the Black Sea and simultaneously transforming it into a 'NATO Sea.'

'The Black Sea will never be a 'NATO Sea,' it is a common sea. For all coastal states, it should be a sea of cooperation, interaction, and security. Moreover, security must be indivisible,' emphasized the Russian presidential spokesman.

Peskov noted that demilitarization and the concept of a 'NATO Sea' are contradictory. Earlier, Ukraine's Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba had stated that security in the region is indivisible: a threat to one is a threat to all, which is why the Black Sea should be made a 'NATO Sea.'
