Criminal Proceedings to Be Initiated Against Mher Sahakyan: National Assembly Votes in Favor
The National Assembly has approved, with 65 votes in favor, the request of the Prosecutor General Anna Vardapetyan to initiate criminal proceedings against Mher Sahakyan, a member of the Armenia bloc.
It was previously reported that during a closed session of the Assembly's legal affairs standing committee on March 31, Mher Sahakyan allegedly struck MP Vladimir Vardanyan from the ruling Civil Contract party. In response to this incident, criminal proceedings have been initiated under Article 297 (hooliganism) part 3 and Article 195 (physical influence) part 2 point 1 of the RA Criminal Code.
On April 11, Anna Vardapetyan presented the request to initiate criminal proceedings against Mher Sahakyan in parliament. Sahakyan has stated that he supports the vote to initiate criminal proceedings against him.
