What is the Armenian Government Waiting For and Why is Russia in a Hurry? Abrahamyan
The proposal from the Russian Federation to place CSTO observers/peacekeepers on the frontline of Armenia and a new package for military-technical cooperation has created a remarkable situation. This was stated by Tigran Abrahamyan, the secretary of the "We Have Honor" faction in the National Assembly, on his Facebook page.
“No one is disclosing the particulars of what the CSTO military-technical support program entails. Secondly, it is essential to understand what proposal has been made to the Armenian government regarding the placement of CSTO observers or peacekeepers, and if there are any details regarding their mandate, functions, and possible locations. This understanding is crucial because it brings forth many questions.
If the proposed military-technical package implies weapons and equipment of vital importance for Armenia, and if the presence of the CSTO could serve as a deterrent factor, then why is it not at least a subject of discussion? Recently, active statements have been made from Russia, while the Armenian government maintains a strange silence.
What is the Armenian government waiting for, and why is Russia in a hurry?” he wrote.
