Putin Meets with Erdoğan's Aide

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov has confirmed that Russian President Vladimir Putin met with Turkish President's spokesperson and chief advisor Ibrahim Kalin, as reported by TASS.

“Indeed, such a meeting took place,” Peskov stated during a conversation with reporters, commenting on reports that Kalin met personally with the Russian president in Moscow to discuss cooperation regarding the Akkuyu nuclear power plant.

Peskov detailed that the meeting addressed the implementation of major projects on the agenda, including the Akkuyu.

“They spoke about how to mark and conduct the fuel loading ceremony. As we mentioned before, Russia will duly participate in the ceremony,” the Kremlin spokesman said.

It is noteworthy that Kalin had previously announced that he personally met with Vladimir Putin in Moscow. He stated that he conveyed messages from Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan to the Russian leader, and during the conversation, topics concerning Ukraine and the fuel loading ceremony of the Akkuyu were touched upon. Kalin also noted that messages from the Russian leader to Erdoğan were delivered.

Recall that Erdoğan had earlier mentioned that Putin's visit to Turkey on April 27 for the fuel loading ceremony of the Akkuyu nuclear power plant is not excluded.
