Macron Urges Xi Jinping to 'Bring Russia to Its Senses'
On April 6, Chinese leader Xi Jinping met with French President Emmanuel Macron in Beijing. The information is reported by apnews.com.
During the meeting, Macron urged Xi, who received a warm welcome from Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow last month, to "bring Russia to its senses" and assist in efforts to achieve lasting peace in Ukraine.
"I know I can count on you to ... bring Russia to its senses and return everyone to the negotiating table. We need to find stable peace. I think this is an important issue for China, just as it is for France and Europe," Macron said to Xi.
Macron also noted that the Russia-Ukraine war has damaged stability, "putting an end to decades of peace in Ukraine." Xi did not mention Ukraine or Russia but expressed support for relations with France, stating that Beijing and Paris are "steadfast promoters of global multipolarity."
