‘There is a character named ‘Dog’ behind whom this criminal case has been initiated’ – Gasparyan
The former Chief of Police of Armenia, Vladimir Gasparyan, categorically rejects the charges against him. He made this statement in court when the prosecutor read the indictment.
According to the indictment, during his tenure, Gasparyan misused his official authority for personal gain, resulting in serious consequences.
Addressing the involvement of his daughter in the accusations, Gasparyan noted that it was done to give the criminal case 'flesh and blood’ and make it more pronounced.
According to the former police chief, the charges against him are based on the statements of one individual. 'There is a character who is sitting in America, slandering everyone in this country; this is the phenomenon of Vardan Gukasyan, known as ‘Dog’, who was one of our employees, whom I fired for moral misconduct. This criminal case is initiated against the background of his statements,' emphasized Gasparyan.
It should be recalled that during the investigation of a multi-part criminal case conducted by the Special Investigation Service, instances of abuse of office, official forgery, and large-scale embezzlement of state funds by former high-ranking officials of the police, including Vladimir Gasparyan and Leon Yeranosyan, have come to light. These offenses resulted in approximately 114 million drams in damages to the state.
Gasparyan faces charges under Article 179, Part 3, Point 1 (embezzlement or waste) and Article 308, Part 2 (abuse of official power) of the Criminal Code. Leon Yeranosyan faces charges under Article 179, Part 3, Point 1, Article 314 (official forgery) Part 1, and Article 308, Part 2 of the Criminal Code.
