The Deputy Mayor of Yerevan, Tigran Avinyan, addressed the city's greening programs during today's operational management meeting.

According to him, afforestation work has been carried out near the Sports Concert Complex and Saralanj, and this year a large forest is planned to be established in Yerablur. 'Even if after this we demolish the cafes at the Opera and green the area, fully restoring the circular park, such work can go to waste due to one communication mistake. And here, I believe, we have certain shortcomings. By “we,” I primarily mean myself. This is a communication issue. It is clear that these tree species must be replaced. What should replace these species, and why the choice was made for the species offered... Out of 2500 trees, only 150 are cherry, but from the news flow, I got the impression that we bought 2500 cherry trees.'

Avinyan also noted that the Cascades is the heart of Yerevan. According to him, the trees there need to be replaced, but what species should be used should be subject to public discussion. 'Indeed, we are planning what the Cascades should look like for the next 50-100 years, and the opinions of Yerevan residents should be taken into account.'

He emphasized the importance of having quality animated videos to make it clear to people what is being proposed.
