Photos: The Site of Yuri Gagarin's Death Revealed for the First Time

The archive of scientific and technical documents has released photographs showing the location of Yuri Gagarin's death. This information is reported by RIA Novosti.

"The Russian State Archive of Scientific and Technical Documents is publishing photographs for the first time from the site of the aviation accident," is noted on the archive's Telegram channel.

Yuri Gagarin died on March 27, 1968, as a result of an aviation accident. In the morning, he took off with instructor and military pilot Vladimir Seryogin from the Chkalovsky airport near Moscow in a MiG-15UTI training jet. A few minutes later, Gagarin reported that he had completed his exercises and received permission to return to the airport.

Almost immediately after that, their aircraft crashed near the village of Novosyolovo, close to Kirzhach and the Pokrov region of Vladimir. Despite numerous hypotheses, the exact causes of the disaster remain unknown to this day.
