Israeli Supreme Court Rejects Bid to Oust Netanyahu

On Monday, Israel's Supreme Court rejected a petition from advocates for Israeli democracy seeking to remove Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu from office. The court reasoned that judicial intervention is a last resort, to be taken only after all other avenues have been exhausted, according to The Jerusalem Post.

The petition was deemed inadmissible, and the petitioners were ordered to pay 5,000 shekels in costs to the state treasury.

The request was filed on Sunday in response to Netanyahu's speech on Thursday, in which he stated that he is also involved in judicial reforms. Haaretz, citing sources within Likud, reports that Netanyahu is likely to announce a freeze on the judicial reforms. Israelis are awaiting that announcement.
