The Order of TV Channels Will Be the Same for Everyone
A proposal is being made to establish a hierarchy for TV channels in Armenia. As reported by Armenpress, Sisak Gabrielyan, co-author of the draft law on amendments and additions to the "Law on Audiovisual Media," presented the bill for second reading at a session of the National Assembly.
“Currently, there is no regulation regarding the order of TV channels. Whether you are watching TV through any cable operator or through a regular digital receiver, there is no regulation in place. In many cases, the TV companies available in the public multiplex do not make it into the top ten, and instead, unauthorized TV channels appear among the top ten cable TV providers,” Gabrielyan stated.
The draft stipulates that henceforth, regardless of whether citizens are viewing via cable or a digital receiver, everyone will have the same channel order. Priority will be given to public broadcasters, followed by those with republican coverage, and then those with metropolitan coverage. Regional television companies will follow those with metropolitan coverage.
