Yerevan Has Not Renounced the Deployment of CSTO Mission on Armenian-Azerbaijani Border, Mirzoyan
Referring to the CSTO, Armenia's Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan stated that Armenia has never renounced the CSTO mission. Mirzoyan pointed out that the CSTO does not recognize a clear area of responsibility, which is problematic.
“It was crucial for us that our CSTO partners did not accept a clear zone of responsibility for the organization. From our perspective, this was somewhat problematic. I repeat, the draft decision is on the table, and work is ongoing,” noted Mirzoyan.
Addressing the issue of the EU observation mission, the Armenian Foreign Minister emphasized that the mission's functions and mandate are clearly defined.
The Russian Foreign Minister added that the decision was a subject of long-term negotiations held before the organization's summit in Yerevan. All ministers have agreed on it. Now it remains to get the signatures of the leaders of CSTO member states. The opportunity to send a mission is maintained, and the CSTO is fully prepared for it. Lavrov expressed his satisfaction that Armenia has not abandoned this idea.
