Russia's Investigative Committee Initiates Case Against Hague Prosecutor and Judges

The Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation has initiated a criminal case against the prosecutor and judges of the International Criminal Court (ICC) who issued an arrest warrant for Russian President Vladimir Putin. This was reported on Monday by the press service of the Investigative Committee of Russia.

“The Investigative Committee of Russia has opened a criminal case against ICC Prosecutor Karim Ahmad Khan, and judges Tomoko Akane, Rosario Salvatore Aitala, and Sergio Gerardo Ugalde Godinez,” the Committee stated.

The Committee reminded that on March 22, ICC Prosecutor Karim Ahmad Khan sent a request to the ICC’s Pre-Trial Chamber II to obtain an arrest warrant for citizens of the Russian Federation. Based on this request, ICC judges made illegal decisions to arrest the President of the Russian Federation and the Presidential Commissioner for Children’s Rights.

“The criminal prosecution is clearly illegal, as there are no grounds for criminal liability,” emphasized the Investigative Committee.
