Bus Falls into Ravine in Bangladesh, Leaving 19 Dead
A deadly accident occurred on Sunday in central Bangladesh when a bus fell into a roadside ravine, likely due to loss of control by the driver.
As a result of the accident, 19 people were killed, and 20 others were injured. The bus was reportedly traveling from the southwestern city of Khulna to the capital Dhaka. The crash took place as the bus approached the Shibchar neighborhood of the Madaripur district, said Abu Nayem Mofazzal Hossain, a representative of the road police.
According to him, 14 people died at the scene, including the bus driver. Three more succumbed to their injuries later, as reported by Bangladesh's United News.
The cause of the accident is still under investigation. In Bangladesh, road traffic incidents often occur due to violations of traffic regulations, reckless driving, and speeding. Approximately 8,000 people die each year in the country as a result of road traffic accidents.
