Baku May Face Historical Legitimacy Issues in the Absheron Peninsula, Expert Says

When the leader of Baku's barbaric regime brazenly refers to the Republic of Armenia as the fictional "Western Azerbaijan," it must be understood that there may be historical legitimacy issues, particularly concerning the Absheron Peninsula. This was noted by Iranian studies expert Vardan Voskanyan on his Telegram channel.

Voskanyan points out that in the 14th-15th centuries, the geographer al-Bakuvi, who hailed from Baku, described the Absheron Peninsula and Baku in the 15th century, mentioning that the villages near the city were inhabited by Christians. He states, "From subsequent periods, we have information about the Armenian population in these villages, so Armenians settled in Absheron at least 500-600 years ago, and one of the last remnants of their cultural heritage, the Armenian church in the village of Buzovna, has been destroyed by the barbarians."
