Turkey Announces Erdogan's Desire to Host Meeting Between Putin and Zelensky

Turkey's President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan wants to organize a meeting in Istanbul in April between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. This was announced by Çagri Erhan, a member of Turkey's Security and Foreign Policy Council.

“Turkey's only mission at this point is to create conditions for Presidents Putin and Zelensky to meet and talk directly at least once, without external interference. Let them find their suitable solution,” the official stated.

It is also noted that the meeting is planned for April of this year. Erdoğan's advisor emphasized that for the entire year of 2022, Turkey has been merely a mediator, nothing more.

“Turkey has not imposed anything on either Russia or Ukraine,” he said.

Earlier, Çagri Erhan had stated that the United States was obstructing a personal meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

“They want the war to last as long as possible, they are not thinking about the future of Ukrainians, they are not thinking about peace,” the Turkish official noted.
