Opposition Leader Among Those Detained in Georgia

Following the adoption of the "Foreign Agents" law in Georgia, large-scale protests have erupted. The police have dispersed the rally using force, including tear gas and water cannons.

Several citizens have been detained; it is known that at least six individuals have been arrested, including Zurab Japaridze, the leader of the opposition party "More Freedom."

The protests in Georgia have drawn comments from the EU. The head of European diplomacy, Josep Borrell, stated, "The 'Foreign Agents' law contradicts Georgia's stated goal of joining the European Union, which is supported by the majority of Georgian citizens. Its final adoption could have serious consequences for our relations."

Notably, Georgian President Salome Zourabichvili defended the protesters opposing the "Foreign Agents" legislation in her video address. A new wave of protests has already been announced for 15:00.
