VIDEO: 'Moldova Needs Peace' - Large Protest in the Center of Chisinau

A protest has taken place in the center of Chisinau, with organizers speaking about the risk of Moldova being drawn into war. Demonstrators chanted, 'Moldova needs peace', 'Russia! Russia!'

Elena Belyakova, a member of the Communist and Socialist faction in the Moldovan Parliament, noted during her speech that the situation in the region is extremely tense, which should unite the population of the country.

'We must show unity. We need to do everything possible to prevent conflict on our land,' Belyakova stated.

Vlad Barinchic, Executive Secretary of the Socialist Party and Deputy Speaker of Parliament, mentioned that reports creating panic in the community emerge daily.

'It is the mission of the Moldovan authorities to bring calm and peace to the people; state agencies must ensure that peace and care for stability is maintained,' Barinchic's remarks were quoted by Sputnik Moldova.
