People Will Not Be Able to Conduct Vehicle Inspections If Gas Cylinder Certification Is Not Completed: Sanosyan

In Armenia, 166,000 drivers have met the requirement to check their vehicle's gas cylinder, but these figures do not satisfy the Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure, Gnel Sanosyan. He made this statement during a Q&A session with the government in parliament, addressing the issue of the gas cylinder certification process.

“The process is indeed underway. The figures are not particularly satisfactory. At this moment, 166,000 drivers have fulfilled the requirement to check their gas cylinders. During these inspections, about 4,800 cylinders were found to be defective, of which 4,400 had expired. Moreover, more than 300 cylinders either exploded or were damaged during the inspection, indicating that they would have exploded eventually and could have resulted in tragic consequences,” Sanosyan noted.

He emphasized that around 60,000-62,000 vehicles are currently registered for these inspections. As a result of the joint efforts of the Ministry of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure and the business community, there are now 82 inspection stations across the republic, making the process significantly easier for drivers.

The minister also referred to a change that will prohibit people from conducting vehicle inspections unless they have completed the gas cylinder certification. He highlighted the importance of these changes and emphasized that the aim is to carry out the series of inspections systematically. This change will come into effect on February 25.
