VIDEO: Additional Salt Being Imported for Street Cleaning in Yerevan
Rainfall in Yerevan ceased around 12:30 PM on February 5, during which time city staff were actively working. Throughout the night of February 6, operations continued without any issues, as noted by the mayor's advisor Kamo Areyan during a routine coordination meeting at the Yerevan municipality today.
"The greatest tension was last night at 4 AM, primarily due to freezing conditions. We received one report from Davit Bek Street; all other streets are busy and open. During the day yesterday, we fully engaged in the cleaning of secondary streets and roadways leading to buildings," he stated, emphasizing that tension will remain until February 10, prompting the current focus on importing additional salt. Areyan mentioned that the current salt mixture has a greater quantity of salt compared to red sand. "For temperatures down to -7 degrees, this is sufficient," he added, noting that the entire system is under significant strain.
Mayor Hrachya Sargsyan, in turn, instructed the leaders of administrative districts to ensure that community organizations properly carry out cleaning operations in yard areas.
