Azerbaijan is Outraged: Foreign Ministry Calls UN Population Fund's Statement Biased

The Foreign Ministry of Azerbaijan has labeled the statement from the UN Population Fund regarding the situation around the Lachin corridor as biased. "It does not reflect reality and does not correspond to the organization’s mandate," officials from Azerbaijan’s Foreign Ministry reacted with indignation.

Furthermore, the UN Population Fund has joined the appeal of the UN Secretary-General to ease tensions and ensure freedom and security of movement through the Lachin corridor, in accordance with previously reached agreements.

"This is critically important for meeting the basic needs of affected populations, including women and girls, youth, persons with disabilities, and the elderly. Freedom and security of movement in the corridor is vital for ensuring continuous access to essential sexual and reproductive health services, as well as enabling women to give birth safely," the statement emphasized.

The UN Population Fund has expressed its willingness to collaborate with all parties in accordance with humanitarian principles to ensure that essential goods and services are accessible to women and girls, as well as other vulnerable segments of the population.
