Russia is Working Diligently with Armenia and Azerbaijan, Says Peskov
Russia, as a participant in the trilateral agreements concerning the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, continues to fulfill its obligations. This statement was made by Dmitry Peskov, the spokesman for the President of Russia, in response to reporters' questions regarding whether the Kremlin agrees with U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken's call for Azerbaijan to immediately open the Lachin corridor linking Nagorno-Karabakh with Armenia.
“Russia, as one of the parties to the trilateral agreements and the documents signed two years ago, continues to fulfill its obligations. And it is continuing very diligent and complex work with both Armenia and Azerbaijan,” Peskov said.
Yesterday, the U.S. State Department announced that Antony Blinken urged Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev in a phone call to immediately unblock the Lachin corridor to restore the movement of commercial goods and reduce the risk of a humanitarian crisis.
It is noteworthy that on the morning of December 12, a group of Azerbaijanis in civilian clothes, citing environmental reasons, closed the Stepanakert-Goris highway, which connects Artsakh with Armenia, at the junction near Shushi-Karin Tak. The Lachin corridor has remained closed for 44 days.
