Kreml Must Be Defeated: Zelensky at Ramstein Air Base Meeting
The meeting of Ukraine's allies has commenced at the Ramstein Air Base in Germany. It focuses on strengthening military support for Ukraine, including the supply of heavy equipment. Delegations from over 50 countries are participating.
“Support for Kyiv will continue as long as necessary,” said Pentagon chief Lloyd Austin, emphasizing that weapons supplies to Kyiv will persist until the conflict is resolved. Austin also reminded that a new military aid package worth $2.5 billion is set to be the largest in history.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky also addressed the meeting. He declared that Russia's main weapon is time and demanded an increase in arms supply to the Ukrainian armed forces. “The Kremlin must be defeated,” Zelensky stated.
It is expected that allies will discuss creating a coalition of countries willing to supply heavy tanks to Kyiv during today’s meeting, particularly focusing on the Leopard 2 tanks. Poland, Denmark, and Finland have expressed their readiness to send them to the Ukrainian armed forces. However, no country can transfer Leopard tanks without permission from Germany, the manufacturer. Nevertheless, Polish authorities have stated they are willing to proceed with the transfer without Berlin's consent.
