Turkey Wants What We Cannot or Do Not Want to Give, Says Sweden's Prime Minister
Turkey's authorities are issuing conditions that are impossible for Sweden to meet in its bid to join NATO, stated Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson during a speech at the 'People and Defense' conference.
'Turkey acknowledges that we have done what we promised, but also says it wants what we cannot or do not want to give,' is how Kristersson's words were cited by Reuters.
It is worth noting that Finland and Sweden submitted their applications to join NATO on May 18, 2022, amidst the backdrop of Russia's special military operation in Ukraine. So far, the NATO membership bids of Sweden and Finland have only been ratified by two of the 30 countries: Hungary and Turkey.
