If Any Concession Occurs, Azerbaijan Will Not Stand Back: Expert
“There should be no concession from Artsakh to Azerbaijan; making just one demand—regardless of its level—will mark the beginning of the end for the Republic of Artsakh. Whether it’s the establishment of a checkpoint, permission to check cargo, or opening an office, if any concession happens, Azerbaijan will not stand back,” said Garnik Davtyan, an expert on Azerbaijan, during a discussion at the Hayeli Club regarding the blockade of Artsakh by Azerbaijan since December 12.
According to Davtyan, 2023 will be a year of serious challenges for Artsakh, particularly with a heightened risk of war, making it truly a matter of existence. “Azerbaijan will be more pressing this year. They will try to obtain a corridor from Armenia and more concessions regarding Artsakh, if not all of Artsakh. Initially, there was an opinion that they would close the road for a short time, but now it’s clear that they intend to keep it closed for the long term,” emphasized the Azerbaijan expert.
