Erdogan: 'He has no qualifications or ability to make decisions on these matters'
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has stated that he does not take seriously the words of European Commission President Josep Borrell regarding Turkey's stance on sanctions against Russia. According to the Turkish president, Borrell cannot decide or regulate the relations between Ankara and Moscow. This was reported by RIA Novosti.
"I do not perceive Borrell as a conversation partner. He can only be a discussion partner for Turkey's Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu. That is an ugly statement. First of all, Borrell cannot decide or regulate our relations with Russia. He has neither qualifications nor the ability to make decisions on such issues," Erdogan told reporters on the plane after returning from Turkmenistan.
Erdogan also accused Borrell of being ungrateful for Turkey's initiatives in the implementation of the 'grain deal'. "All European leaders thank us, while you stand up and make such a statement," emphasized the Turkish leader.
Earlier, Borrell stated that the trade relations between Ankara and Moscow and Turkey's refusal to join the West's sanctions policy are a source of concern within the EU.
